Hobsons Bay Council Meeting – 27 November 2012

Dear resident,

I have raised a number of issues on the agenda for the public council meeting on Tuesday 27th November.  If you would like to attend, the meeting starts at 7pm and is held at the Council Chamber in Altona.  I would love to see you there and get the opportunity to talk with you after the meeting.  The items I have placed on the agenda include:

–   Plans and community engagement for Fell Reserve, Seaholme;

–   The former Altona West Primary School site;

–   Burns Road Industrial Estate – future and community engagement;

–   Lighting upgrade for Harrington Square, Altona;

–   Economic Development in Hobsons Bay (including the possibility of joining LeadWest);

–   Pedestrian and Cyclist crossing on Millers Road, Seaholme;

–   Report on the costs of Cr Hemphill’s allegations at VCAT;

–   Certificate of Appreciation to Liz Ryan (Somers Parade Kindergarten, Altona); and

–   Ward funding to the Altona North Cricket Club, Bayside College (for children with disabilities) and Immaculate Conception Social Club).

9.5 NOTICE OF MOTION NO. 1008 – DRAFT PLANS FOR FELL RESERVE AND THE PROPOSED COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROCESS

“That Council officers prepare and present a report to the Council before the end of March 2013 regarding the draft plans for Fell Reserve and the proposed community engagement process.”

 

9.6 NOTICE OF MOTION NO. 1009 – REPORT ON THE SITE OF THE FORMER ALTONA WEST PRIMARY SCHOOL

“That Council officers prepare and present a report to the Council before the end of February 2013 regarding the site of the former Altona West Primary School, including:-

  1. The site’s history including decisions around the amalgamation of the former Altona West Primary School and Altona High School;
  2. Copies of all correspondence from the state government and Members of Parliament to the Council regarding that site of the last six years;
  3. Details about the current enrolment levels at the Altona P-9 College and its capacity; and
  4. The current and projected need for a public school to provide classes for years 10, 11 and 12 for Altona, Altona Meadows and Seaholme.”
9.8 NOTICE OF MOTION NO. 1011 – ZONING ISSUES OF THE BURNS ROAD INDUSTRIAL ESTATE

“That the Council prepares and presents a detailed report before the end of April 2013 about the history of the zoning issues of the Burns Road industrial estate, and options available to:

(a) facilitate a process to ensure the future viability of that estate; and
(b) engage with all the various landowners.”

 

9.9 NOTICE OF MOTION NO. 1012 – SOLAR POWERED LIGHTS AT HARRINGTON SQUARE, ALTONA

“That the Council refers a sum of $38,000 to the draft 2013-14 capital works budget for solar powered lights at the rear of the shops at Harrington Square, Altona.”

 

9.10 NOTICE OF MOTION NO. 1013 – ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN HOBSONS BAY

“That the Council prepares and presents a detailed report about ways the Council can improve economic development in Hobsons Bay, including the benefits or otherwise of joining LeadWest.”

 

9.11 NOTICE OF MOTION NO. 1014 – TRAFFIC COUNTS ON MILLERS ROAD

“That the Council conducts relevant traffic counts and community engagement about the need for, and probable usage of, a pedestrian and cyclist crossing on Millers Road near Noordenne Estate, and present it to a future Council meeting.”

 

9.12 NOTICE OF MOTION NO. 1015 – REPORT ON CR HEMPHILL’S ALLEGATIONS OF MISCONDUCT AGAINST CR BRIFFA

“That officers prepare and present a report to the first Ordinary Council Meeting of 2013 updating the Council on Cr Hemphill’s allegations of misconduct against Cr Briffa, including the net costs to the council for legal fees.”
